Angelica Sinensis Oil Origin and Extraction

Angelica Sinensis oil is derived from the angelica plant. Angelica plants are often known as dong quai.  Angelica grows in the mountains regions of China, Korea and Japan.   The oil is extracted from the root of a mature plant (meaning the plant is at least three years old).

Angelica Sinensis Oil Indications/Uses

This oil’s medicinal history exceeds one thousand years. Angelica Sinesis Oil is perhaps best known for its healing effects on the female reproductive system. This oil helps relieve discomfort and symptoms related to menstruation, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) and menopause.

Other medicinal uses of angelica sinensis oil include the management of hypertension, infertility, joint paint, ulcers, anemia, allergies, and for skin conditions such as psoriasis.

Angelica Sinensis Oil Contra Indications

Angelica Sinensis Oil should be avoided during pregnancy, as it may increase the risk of miscarriage. It is also contra indicated for cases of diarrhea or abdominal distension.

This essential oil is unsuitable for use by children.

Essential Oils are natural, contracted oils that have the fragrance of the plant from which they originated. Most typically, the oils are extracted from the plant through distillation. In many cases, the distillation process involves the use of steam.  As steam passes through the plant’s stems, seeds, flowers or leaves, it assists in vaporizing the volatile compounds.

While essential oils have various uses, they have a long documented history of medicinal value. Essential Oils can support overall health, act as a treatment or remedy for various medical or psychological conditions or help prevent infections and illness.

Essential Oils should not be used on animals as they can have adverse effects.
