Cinnamon Oil Origin and Extraction

Cinnamon Oil is extracted from the leaves or bark of the cinnamon tree.

Cinnamon Oil Essential Oil Indications/Uses  

Cinnamon Oil is an anti-oxidant (meaning it helps remove free radicals) and is anti-inflammatory. It supports cardiovascular health and helps prevent or treat diabetes. It can be useful for treating metabolic syndrome and may help with weight management. Cinnamon is also useful for treating neurological disorders including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease.  Cinnamon oil has been found to reduce spasms, reduce flatulence, increase appetite and stimulate sexual desire.

Cinnamon Oil Contra Indications

Ingest cinnamon oil internally only under the guidance of a qualified medical professional. Since cinnamon oil can alter blood clotting, discontinue use two weeks prior to scheduled surgery.  Pregnant women and breast feeding women are advised to avoid large quantities of cinnamon oil. Cinnamon oil when used topically should be used in diluted form to avoid irritation to the skin. Some individuals may have an allergic reaction to cinnamon oil.

In many cases, the distillation process involves the use of steam.  As steam passes through the plant’s stems, seeds, flowers or leaves, it assists in vaporizing the volatile compounds.
