Fennel Essential Oil is used as an antiseptic and can prevent the development of sepsis. It is also anti-spasmodic, offering protection from spasms and involuntary contractions. Fennel oil can offer relief from constipation and from intestinal gas. Fennel Oil rids the body of worms, acts as a diuretic, lowers blood pressure, eases menstrual difficulties and increases milk supply in lactating women.  It is used for such conditions as heartburn, bloating, loss of appetite, bed wetting, visual problems, child birth, sore backs, and upper respiratory track infections. This oil may also play a role in weight management.

Fennel Oil Contra Indications

Fennel Oil contains a compound known as Trans Aethole. This compound increases estrogen production in the body and should not be used by pregnant women or women with certain types of cancers.  It might also interfere with the effectiveness of the birth control pill. Heavy dosages can result in convulsions and hallucinations. Individuals with epilepsy should avoid the use of Fennel Oil.  Some people may be allergic to fennel seed oil.

Fair skinned people using fennel oil are advised to use a sun block as the oil may make the skin more sensitive to sun and sunburn.

Essential Oils are natural, contracted oils that have the fragrance of the plant from which they originated. Most typically, the oils are extracted from the plant through distillation. In many cases, the distillation process involves the use of steam.  As steam passes through the plant’s stems, seeds, flowers or leaves, it assists in vaporizing the volatile compounds.

While essential oils have various uses, they have a long documented history of medicinal value. Essential Oils can support overall health, act as a treatment or remedy for various medical or psychological conditions or help prevent infections and illness.

Essential Oils should not be used on animals as they can have adverse effects.
