Frankincense Oil Origin and Extraction

Frankincense Oil is extracted from the frankincense tree, native to North Africa but growing in other areas as well.  When the bark of the tree is tapped, it displays a gum-like resin, which is used to make the essential oil. The frankincense tree is otherwise known as Boswellia.

Frankincense oil has been used to strengthen one’s spiritual connections, as well as alleviating depression, stress and negativity by replacing those emotions with a sense of peace and well-being.

From a health standpoint, Frankincense Oil has a positive effect on cellular tissue – promoting cell generation and maintaining cell health. It promotes healthy, youthful skin and can reduce the visibility of scars and stretch marks.  This oil also supports healthy gums and hair roots, helps blood clotting related to wounds and cuts, and encourages faster healing of various forms of wounds.

While Frankincense Oil is considered a general tonic, it specifically aids conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and arthritis, relieves chest congestion, supports oral and dental health, eases digestion and promotes uterine health. Frankincense Oil can ease challenges related to menstruation or menopause in women.

Essential Oils are natural, contracted oils that have the fragrance of the plant from which they originated. Most typically, the oils are extracted from the plant through distillation. In many cases, the distillation process involves the use of steam.  As steam passes through the plant’s stems, seeds, flowers or leaves, it assists in vaporizing the volatile compounds.

While essential oils have various uses, they have a long documented history of medicinal value. Essential Oils can support overall health, act as a treatment or remedy for various medical or psychological conditions or help prevent infections and illness.

Essential Oils should not be used on animals as they can have adverse effects.
