Myrrh Oil

Paragon Alternative’s essential oils are selected and approved by  Sajid Ali, D.N.M. They are the purest and best essential oils available.

Myrrh Oil Origin and Extraction

Myrrh Essential Oil is obtained from the dried resin of the Commiphora myrrh tree.  The cut tree bark exudes a yellow sap, which dries into reddish brown lumps. These lumps are used to make Myrrh Essential Oil. The tree is native to Africa and the Middle East.

Myrrh Essential Oil Indications/Uses

Reports of Myrrh Essential Oil being used medicinally date back as far as 1500
BC. This oil has many health promoting properties.  It is perhaps best known for its ability to improve skin health and deter the effects of aging.

With antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and antiseptic properties, it is effective at preventing or healing infections from microbes, bacteria and fungi, including the prevention of sepsis, a potentially life threatening condition.

As an astringent, Myrrh Essential Oil contracts blood vessels. Because of this, it is useful for stopping haemorrhaging, preventing teeth from becoming loose at the gums and for preventing hair loss.

An expectorant as well as an anti-catarrhal, this oil aids in the coughing up of phlegm and mucous from the respiratory system and assists with breathing.

With stimulant properties, Myrrh Essential Oil stimulates the body’s systems including the brain, resulting in clearer thinking.

The oil’s carminative effects reduces the formation of intestinal gas and relaxes the abdominal muscles so gas moves downward rather than up through the windpipe.

Myrrh Essential Oil also strengthens the immune system, stimulates blood circulation, reduces inflammation, relieves cramps and muscle spasms, helps eliminate toxins by increasing perspiration, alleviates depression and acts as a general tonic.

Myrrh Oil Contra Indications

Myrrh Essential Oil can cause allergic reactions in some people.

Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and persons with diabetes and other diseases are advised to use only under the guidance of a qualified medical professional.

Excessively high doses can cause irregular heart beats, low blood pressure and other undesirable side effects.

Essential Oils are natural, contracted oils that have the fragrance of the plant from which they originated. Most typically, the oils are extracted from the plant through distillation. In many cases, the distillation process involves the use of steam.  As steam passes through the plant’s stems, seeds, flowers or leaves, it assists in vaporizing the volatile compounds.

While essential oils have various uses, they have a long documented history of medicinal value. Essential Oils can support overall health, act as a treatment or remedy for various medical or psychological conditions or help prevent infections and illness.

Essential Oils should not be used on animals as they can have adverse effects.
