Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil Origin and Extraction

Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil is derived from the flowers of the ylang-ylang tree (Cananga Odorata) using the process of steam distillation. Ylang-ylang grows in the rainforests of Asia and the South Pacific.

Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil Indications/Uses

Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil is perhaps best known for its calming abilities. By reducing tension, depression, anxiety and stress, the individual not only experiences enhanced enjoyment of life but may experience related health benefits stemming from this calming effect.

Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil is hypotensive. Use as directed may result in a reduction in blood pressure. Properly regulated blood pressure contributes to heart health.

Ylang-Ylang Oil contains antiseborrhoeic properties, meaning it suppresses the excessive production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. This makes it a good choice for treating or preventing skin ailments such as acne or Seborrhoeic Eczema.

Containing antiseptic properties, Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil helps prevent wounds, burns, scraps and other injuries from becoming infected. It can also assist in healing wounds in the internal organs such as stomach, colon and more.

Nervine properties allow Ylang-Ylang Oil to sooth, heal and rebuild cells of the central nervous system.

This Essential Oil is an antidepressant, antiseborrhoeic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, hypotensive, nervine and sedative substance.

Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil Contra Indications

When taken in large amounts, Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil can induce symptoms including nausea and headache. There are no known complications when used as directed.

As with any Essential Oil, test for allergic reactions prior to use.

Essential Oils are natural, contracted oils that have the fragrance of the plant from which they originated. Most typically, the oils are extracted from the plant through distillation. In many cases, the distillation process involves the use of steam.  As steam passes through the plant’s stems, seeds, flowers or leaves, it assists in vaporizing the volatile compounds.

While essential oils have various uses, they have a long documented history of medicinal value. Essential Oils can support overall health, act as a treatment or remedy for various medical or psychological conditions or help prevent infections and illness.

Essential Oils should not be used on animals as they can have adverse effects.

Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
